LEGAL · DON’T JAYWALK
Advertiser terms
The contract that applies when a law firm or a lawyer buys a billboard in Don’t Jaywalk.
Last updated: October 10, 2026
The short version
- You buy one billboard, from #100 to #1, for 1 to 12 calendar months, with a one-off payment. No subscription or automatic renewal.
- A free billboard goes live when your payment is confirmed. A taken one can be booked for right after: it goes live the moment the current booking ends, as shown before you pay. It stops after the months you bought, at the same time of day.
- You are responsible for your ad, including your bar’s advertising rules.
- There is no guarantee of traffic, views, clicks or clients.
- Your firm’s first booking has a 7-day money-back guarantee.
- The shop is for professionals only: law firms and lawyers buying for their practice.
Who you are dealing with
Don’t Jaywalk is run by a sole proprietor based in France (the “operator”, “we” or “us”). Payments are processed by Stripe through the operator’s Stripe merchant account, named Burden Hunt. Contact: contact@dontjaywalk.com.
The shop is for law firms and lawyers buying for their professional activity. By paying, you confirm that you have the authority to buy for your firm and to approve its ad.
What you buy
A billboard is an ad space on the road of the game. Its number is its position: #1 is the first billboard of the road and also appears on the Game Over screen; the others come one after another, and players see them only if they get that far. Numbers are positions, not rankings of lawyers or legal services.
You choose a billboard and 1 to 12 calendar months. If the billboard is free, it goes live when your payment is confirmed. If another firm has it, you can book it for right after, up to 12 months ahead: your months start the moment the last booking ends, and that start (date and time, US Eastern time) is shown before you pay. Your billboard runs for the months you bought, counted in calendar months from its start, to the minute (with an end-of-month adjustment where needed). Your confirmation email shows the dates. At expiry the billboard is released; keeping it longer takes a new purchase, for dates nobody has booked yet. Once you pick a spot, it is held for you for 15 minutes at most while you finish your order; a hold is not a purchase.
Price and payment
The price is shown before you pay, in your currency when the shop offers it (otherwise in U.S. dollars), and the total shown is the amount charged, in that currency. Prices in other currencies are made from the U.S. dollar list price with a reference exchange rate and rounded; they can change when that rate moves, but never the price of an order you have started paying. It is a one-off payment for the whole period, with no subscription or automatic renewal; a price per month is only a unit. You pay in Stripe’s secure payment fields, by card or another payment method Stripe offers in your country; your card statement shows a description that includes DONT JAYWALK. For an order of US$5,000 or more, bank payments that take a few business days to clear may also be offered: the billboard is held for you meanwhile and goes live once the payment has cleared. We email your receipt after payment; email us if you need an invoice. A refund is made in the currency you paid in.
Your ad and your responsibilities
You are responsible for your ad: your firm’s identity and contact details, your website, texts, logos, trademarks and pictures. You confirm that you have the right to use them, including what we draft automatically from your website, and you check the preview before paying: our draft is not a compliance review. If a claim is made against us because of your ad, you are responsible for it.
Your ad must follow your bar’s advertising rules and the laws that apply to you, including any required attorney identification, disclaimers, filings and limits on claims, testimonials, results or specialist titles. Do not promise case outcomes, mislead, impersonate another firm or use content that is not yours to use.
A billboard is a paid ad. It is not a lawyer recommendation, a referral service, a certification or an endorsement. We do not check legal skills and we do not give legal advice. Seeing an ad creates no attorney-client relationship, and the game collects no case information for you.
How your billboard appears
You allow us to host, resize and display your ad to deliver your billboard and its previews. You keep your rights in it; we do not use your brand for anything else.
Your billboard is part of the game world. In some crash scenes, the game’s cartoon character lands on a billboard for a moment, covering part of it, then slides off. Billboards can also appear in the pictures players make in the game and share. These scenes add no words about your firm. If you prefer that the character never lands on your billboard, email us your billboard number: it will then land beside it.
Until a billboard is booked, the game shows a fictional sample firm on it, as scenery. Those firms are not advertisers, and the shop shows which billboards are free and from when the others can be booked. Once you book a billboard, it shows only your ad.
There is no guarantee of traffic, impressions, views, clicks, leads, cases or revenue. Players may never reach a given billboard. The view counts on your private page are estimates: a view counts when your whole ad is on a player’s screen, and one player can count several times.
Corrections, takedown and changes
For a correction or a takedown request, email us your billboard number and what is wrong. Do not send card details, private links or confidential client information.
We may pause or remove an ad that appears unlawful, misleading, infringing, unsafe or against these terms; when we can, we explain why and let you correct it. If we stop showing your billboard before the end of your paid period for a reason that is not your doing, we refund the unused part of your payment.
We may change the game’s design and features over time.
7-day money-back guarantee on your first booking
Each firm’s first booking (we recognize a firm by its website) can get a full refund: email us before your billboard goes live or within 7 days after it does. The refund goes back to the original payment method, and your billboard is removed when Stripe confirms the refund. The guarantee covers the payment; it does not promise any advertising result.
Other refunds and billing problems
Tell us quickly about a double charge, a billboard that did not go live or a wrong order: we check the payment and booking records and fix or refund what is due. Outside the guarantee and the cases above, a booking is not refunded, unless the law requires otherwise.
Liability
As far as the law allows, our total liability for a booking is limited to the amount paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost clients, revenue or reputation. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for fraud or gross negligence.
Your data
How we handle your firm’s data is explained in the privacy notice.
Transfer and changes to these terms
We may transfer these terms and your booking to whoever takes over Don’t Jaywalk, for example if the business is sold. You may transfer your booking only with our written agreement. New versions of these terms apply to bookings made after they are published; your booking stays under the version in force on the day you paid.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. Before going to court, email us so we can try to settle the matter. Any dispute between professionals goes to the courts with jurisdiction over the operator’s place of business in France.
