Game terms

Don’t Jaywalk is a free browser game: hop across fictional streets, dodge traffic, beat your best and help your region win the weekly race. These terms apply when you play.

The short version

Who runs the game

Don’t Jaywalk is run by a sole proprietor based in France (the “operator”, “we” or “us”). Contact: contact@dontjaywalk.com.

Playing safely

The game is entertainment, not road-safety advice. Never imitate its crossings in real traffic, and do not play while driving or crossing a road. Playing is free. There are no prizes or money to win: the weekly cups are for fun only.

Fair play

Do not cheat, change scores, use bots or scripts, overload or attack the site, or get in other players’ way. To keep the race fair, the same limits apply to everyone: 1,000 streets a day per player, 5,000 per network, one run every 3 seconds and two team changes a week. Streets beyond these limits, or that fail our checks, do not count, so a score on your screen may not all reach your team. We may remove streets or reset scores that break these terms.

Your best score, your team and your game progress are saved in your own browser; the privacy notice explains what the race and our statistics record.

The billboards are ads, not legal advice

Each billboard on the road is a paid sponsor placement bought by a law firm or a lawyer. It is not a lawyer recommendation, a ranking of legal skills or an endorsement of what the firm claims. A billboard’s number is its place on the road, not a measure of quality. Don’t Jaywalk is not legal advice and does not represent anyone. Playing, seeing an ad or visiting a firm’s website does not create an attorney-client relationship with us or with the firm.

Billboards that no firm has booked show fictional sample firms, with fictional phone numbers (555-01xx) and no website. They are not real firms or real offers, and any resemblance to an actual firm is coincidental.

There are no case or referral forms on this site. Do not send confidential case details to our contact address. If you visit a firm’s website, check its credentials yourself; that site and any dealings with the firm have their own terms.

Content and pictures

The game’s artwork, code, name and logo belong to their owner. You may play, share links to the game and share the pictures the game makes for you, including the billboards that appear in them; the firms’ names and logos remain theirs. You may not copy, sell or redistribute the game itself.

Changes and availability

We may change the game, its features, its billboards and its leaderboards, or pause or stop it. There is no promise of uninterrupted access. We publish updates of these terms on this page; the date at the top shows the version in force.

Liability

The game is provided as it is, as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms takes away the mandatory rights you have under the law where you live, including consumer rights, or limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Transfer, law and contact

If Don’t Jaywalk is sold or transferred, these terms continue with the new owner. These terms are governed by French law; if you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and can use its courts where the law allows.

Report a bug, a misleading ad or a rights problem to contact@dontjaywalk.com, with the billboard number if there is one. Buying a billboard is covered by the advertiser terms.
